Mission
Child Family Health International (CFHI) is a non-profit organization, a global family of committed professionals and students who work at the grassroots level to promote the health of the world community.
Since its inception CFHI has focused on sustainable, long term healthcare by providing micro grants and professional development opportunities to local doctors and clinics in underserved communities. These initiatives are largely funded through CFHI's global health education programs in Bolivia, Ecuador, India, South Africa and Mexico. CFHI's global health programs aim to facilitate the sharing of medical resources, knowledge, and experience in its participants.
Programs
GLOBAL STUDENT SERVICE-LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES: Participants experience global health through 4 or 8 week programs in Bolivia, Ecuador, India, Mexico & South Africa. These programs foster learning and service that spark transformational personal change for all involved. These programs work to achieve sustainable solutions in healthcare services and disease prevention and are geared to students of the health sciences.
COMMUNITY HEALTH PROJECTS: CFHI's Community Health Projects build on a community's strengths, rather than focus on its deficiencies. In 2005, CFHI launched our first round of Community Health Projects in an attempt to support community-driven projects devised by local doctors and community leaders who host and teach our students. Our community partners have designed a variety of projects addressing many and varied health needs and this "micro-gifting" allows them to offer their communities more and better services.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES: CFHI supports our global partners to pursue professional development and training opportunities in their home countries and abroad. Whether it is a request for funding to attend an international conference, or for training in specific surgical procedures, CFHI assists whenever possible. We have also provided collaborative partner exchange programs between global partners that focus on leadership and management and leadership strategies that offer the tools to administer CFHI global health education programs.
HEALTH PROMOTER TRAINING: CFHI trains community-based health workers and teaches local community members about preventive medicine and public health issues. Equipped with medicine and supplies physicians often see over 400 patients in a month.
