We are working closely with an elementary school in Manila. They are looking for donors to help send poor kids to school. $300 will pay for 1 year of elementary school and that includes 2 hot meals a day, school uniforms and supplies. These kids are from squatter villages and are very poor. Without our help, they will not receive an education at all. Some of the kids are already teenagers and can not read or write because they have never had the opportunity to go to school. We are focusing on online fundraising campaigns and fundraising events to raise the money to send kids to school. Any help would be appreciated. You can help by forwarding this page to friends. Thanks!

  4. Our Lady of Peace Hospital in Manila Reaches Out to the Poorest of the Poor

    Published June 09, 2009 @ 12:51PM PT

Sister Eva's programs at Our Lady of Peace Hospital are truly inspirational! The hospital has about 100 beds and serves 9 squatter areas in Manila. Only the very poor are served in the hospital. They can do everything in the hospital including surgeries. Sister Eva also organizes medical missions. She rounds up a group of 25 doctors who all volunteer a week of their time and go to various regions to perform surgeries in the rural poor areas. She used to organize these medical missions 4 times per year, but because of budget restraints she has to do it less often. Our Lady of Peace hospital also works with the tribes with their program called "Barefoot Doctors." They bring a group of 30 people from the tribes to the hospital in Manila. In Manila the 30 representatives of the tribe are ... Read More

    Published June 06, 2009 @ 10:34AM PT

"Tahanan ni Maria" a home for the aged in Cavite, Philippines needs our help. The home's 50 residents are seniors who have been abandoned by their families and were found living on the streets. Many are suffering from dementia. The home provides a wooden bed with a thin plastic mat for each senior. It is crowded and the building is in desrepair. But it is much better than living on the streets. The seniors are fed and cared for by the staff. This home can use donations of food, clothing and cash.   With our supporters help, Bundles of Joy has provided some donations of used clothing & shoes, personal items and food to the home. But they need more help. ("Tahanan ni Maria" is Tagalog for "Maria's House".)  Read More

St. Hannibal's School in Manila, Philippines needs our help. This elementary school is run by the Rogationist Fathers and provides a free education for very poor kids who can not afford to pay tuition. The school provides food, school supplies and uniforms to these very poor children who would otherwise not get an education at all. The new school year opens on June 15 with 65 kids enrolled in Grades 1 - 6. The school library is in disrepair. The bookshelves are infested with termites and need to be replaced. The school is raising funds to repair the library. If you can make a donation of any amount it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

  7. Ywzopqkkywvfgqq-200x148-cropped Focus on Education

    Published April 11, 2009 @ 07:51PM PT

We all know how important an education is. Yet many young children in the Philippines from very poor families, do not go to school. Many public schools in depressed areas are ill-equipped to educate these kids. They don't have books, supplies or equipment. Aside from this, kids don't attend school because they don't have the bus fare to get to school or food to eat during the day. These kids will grow up illiterate and be unable to find jobs and support their own families. The cycle of poverty will go on. Our goal is to break the cycle of poverty by helping people help themselves by getting a good education. We are fundraising to provide books, school supplies and scholarships for these kids. Many generous caring people are supporting our cause including the Girl Scout troop of Fourth G... Read More

    Published December 11, 2008 @ 12:02AM PT

As Bundles of Joy's first year of operation comes to an end, I can happily say that I am surprised and impressed by our accomplishments!  We have come a long way since we established Bundles of Joy as a non-profit in January of 2008... 2008 Achievements: - Shipped 24 boxes of medicines, food, school supplies, and used clothing, shoes and toys to 3 needy areas of the Philippines.  (Each “balikbayan” box is 20”x20”x20” and weighs approximately 80 lbs.)  The total value of goods distributed was $17,500. - Donated $1,000 of used clothing to local charities.  (ie: sweaters and coats that would be inappropriate for the tropical weather in the Philippines) - Built an online network of supporters on both change.org and Facebook. - Curre...
