Gardens of Peace
The Gardens of Peace Program helps communities around Lanao Sur and Norte become better farmers. AAI offers training and agriculture education to local people, especially focusing on the able children. AAI also supplies seeds and oversight throughout the seasons. Rice and vegetables, along with commercial produce like the special banana plants that can be turned into cloth are the most common crops. Fields that once hosted violence and killing have been transformed into places of prosperity. Local people now feel hope instead of despair. A particular killing field now houses chickens and eggs. Growing their own food is the most important way to gain stability and independence from others. Self sustaining communities are our goal.
