Mission
Our Mission:
To achieve peace and stability through building hope. We focus on community development initiatives in the fields of education, health, livelihood, economics, and more in very poor regions afflicted with conflict. It is our aim to inspire unselfish leadership and to build partnerships as the foundation for civil society.
We are community based and encourage inter-generational leadership. The experienced professionals mentor potential young leaders to asses the changing dynamics in their community and offer creative solutions.
Asia America Initiative was founded as a Non-Profit Organization with headquarters in Washington, D.C. and a branch office in Manila in order to achieve peace and stability in one of the most impoverished and conflict plagued areas of the world.
Programs
Development for Peace, a model for the international community. We demonstrate how international and local skill sets can be integrated as a strength rather than a weakness. AAI acts as a bridge between local leaders, national government, and international assistance. We now have over 20,000 students in our Model of Excellence public schools.
Our other programs include: Assisting guerilla fighters to enter mainstream society via livelihood training, education, and housing assistance for their families.
We provides tables, textbooks, educational supplies, multimedia learning technologies and computers to over two dozen "Model of Excellence" public schools, day care center, and adult literacy and livelihood program (serving 120 single mothers).
Community service scholarship for high-school and college students. Students serve as nurses' and teachers' aides in elementary schools and the regional hospital.
Developed handicraft coops, bakery and fish product business for adult literacy students, and even a poultry farm.
Gardens of Peace program sends seeds and agricultural supplies, primarily to Lanao Sur and Lanao Norte, Philippines. Provides assistance and training to upgrade production of crops.
