Mission
Through a variety of programs at Ark of Hope For Children it is our goal to provide the most comprehensive, loving, faith based programs of care for domestic orphans living in foster care within the U.S. Most of the children within our care have faced serious physical or sexual abuse or extreme neglect. Ark of Hope For Children will provide homes of hope for orphans and previously abused or neglected children and youth living in U.S. foster care. We are a nonprofit 501c3 organization
Our unique programs will be aimed at providing care for children and youth from birth through 23 years old. Ark of Hope’s Residential Care and Administrative Directors, foster parents, support staff and volunteers will meet every child's needs with Christ-like love. All will oversee the physical, emotional and educational needs of the children and youth. We will be a safe haven for previously abused and neglected children to experience unconditional love, emotional healing and encouragement. Our programs will equip and empower them to handle the challenges of their past and build hope filled futures. Ark of Hope For Children has a comprehensive plan of action focusing on specific areas to bring hope and stability to the at risk children and youth in our care.

* "H2O-Hope To Orphans", traditional foster care and adoption programs in your own home
* "Eagles Nest" - Sibling care campus of specialized homes allowing siblings to stay together while in care
* "Wings" Transitional Living Homes - for youth 18 to 23 years old allowing them to gradually move towards caring for themselves while working and/or going to school.
History
In 1999, as a blended family with five birth children Blair and Verna Corbett began adopting children. So far we have become a "forever home" to five additional children from foster care. We wanted to give a permanent home to children who we felt would never be adopted due to their personal challenges which include Cerebral Palsy, partial blindness and mental disabilities.
As we learned of the insurmountable challenges that foster children face we felt much more could be done. In 2001 Blair left the regular marketplace to join Verna in making Ark of Hope For Children become a reality. We have come a long way, having received our 501c3 not-for-profit papers, purchased an 80 acre piece of property in High Springs and assembled a Board of Directors that shares our heart for abused children. We drive forward with our goals as we continually recall one young foster child we met in a nearby school who knew of our mission and pleaded with us to take him home.
We are in the process of selling one of the 20 acre parcels. The sale will pay off the balance of the loan on the rest of the property and give us a good building fund for our first home. House plans are in hand and being polished for the building process. Our goal is to build our first home for six children by the end of 2007, either by a local Gainesville, Florida area builder or by volunteers.
We have seen first hand the amazing changes that take place when caring people invest their time, talents and resources into the lives of hurting children. They change from hardened hearts to hope filled sponges. Their life course changes and a positive and awe inspiring new cycle has begun. It is like watching a beautiful butterfly emerge from a cocoon it has been trapped in for years. They fly on wings like eagles because someone cared enough to make a difference.
Help Ark of Hope through a new music video!
Country music star and national recording artist Wayne Warner is producing his second project to benefit foster and adoptable children. Set for release in early 2009 Wayne’s “50 Files” project focuses on plight of the 510,000 foster children in the U.S. that see themselves as little more than a name on a file. The title song “50 Files” will highlight one foster child that is available for adoption from each of the 50 states. Roughly 120,000 children await adoption from foster care in the U.S. every day. The compilation album will feature songs from many of your favorite recording artists that have been touched by foster care/adoption or have played a role in its advocacy. The project is a follow up to Wayne’s highly successful “God Bless the Children” song and video which was released in 2006 and benefited The Dave Thomas Foundation for U.S. adoption.
