Help Maddie protect human rights in Sri Lanka!
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
I have been invited by the Advocacy Project, a DC-based human rights group, to work with Home for Human Rights (HHR), a non-profit organization in Colombo, Sri Lanka. HHR, as one of Sri Lanka's oldest human rights organizations, has made substantial contributions towards investigating and documenting human rights abuse and supporting victims of torture.
My responsibilities will include:
Conduct research and write reports on human rights abuses in Sri Lanka Liaise with the UN and other relevant bodies to raise awareness of ongoing violationsWork with HHR to write and submit formal reports to UN monitoring bodies including the UN Special Rapporteurs on torture and summary executions, the working group on disappearances, the UN Human Rights Council, and other bodies.Help HHR explain and promote their anti-torture work and find supporters in the form of donors and allies. This will be a fantastic learning experience but unfortunately will not be paid. I need your help to make it happen! $10 may not seem like much, but if everyone does what they can, it will go a long way.
Check out HHR's website and read about my work as I post weekly updates this summer.
So far, I have raised $1,330. All money raised here will support my travel and living expenses this summer while working with HHR on their current projects. Please feel free to contact me with any questions at mle2114[at]columbia.edu. Many thanks for your support!
Sincerely,

- I am deeply touched by Madeline England's human rights work with HHR. Her humanity flows in abundance, and I am proud to be an American because of her. Thank you HHR for your dedicated work under trying conditions, and thank you for hosting Madeline. I appeal to the Advocacy Project to continue the good work in Sri Lanka.
