End Today’s Slavery & Protect Survivors:

CHASTE-UK  works to: develop safe houses for those who have been trafficked for sexual exploitation, to provide training for immigration and police personnel, to provide support, counseling and representation for trafficking survivors through the statuary and voluntary sectors, and to research the conditions that lead to trafficking with a view to promoting cultural and legislative change.

Over 500,000 women are trafficked into Western Europe each year, according to the UN, and many travel through, or are from, Albania. Earlier this year, CHASTE opened an office in Tirana, the capital city of Albania, in order to undertake research and to provide much needed services to the survivors of trafficking. The average age of many of these girls forced into prostitution is 13 or 14 and most experienced sexual abuse prior to their trafficking, according to CHASTE research.

You Can Make A Difference!
Jennifer Hollinger has been selected as the Advocacy Project Peace Fellow volunteering with CHASTE for the summer of 2007. The Advocacy Project, a DC-based non-profit, works to support community-based advocates for peace and human rights.  One of the ways it does this is by sending AP Peace Fellows to volunteer with its partners in the developing world. Jennifer will spend her time aiding CHASTE in its mission to advocate for trafficked women in Albania. You can help them support trafficked women with a tax-deductible donation to Jennifer’s AP Fellowship for Peace. Donations of any amount will be greatly appreciated.

Any amount raised beyond her expenses for the summer will be donated back to CHASTE-UK to aid them in their critical work. Please make every effort to donate by MAY 31 so that the donation can be processed in time to allow Jennifer to maximize her work in support of CHASTE.

Your Donation Will Help AP’s Peace Fellow Volunteering with CHASTE To:
* Conduct outreach and support for trafficking survivors in Albania
* Help develop a network of safe houses to secure the safety of women who have been trafficked for sexual exploitation
* Assist in training immigration and police personnel to recognize and correctly refer trafficking survivors
* Research the socio-economic conditions that result in trafficking
* Promote legislative and cultural change to ensure the protection of these girls and women

Follow Their Progress Throughout The Summer
Jennifer will post weekly blogs on the AP website over the summer so that donors and interested groups can follow her experiences and the accomplishments of CHASTE’s new office in Albania. She is also available to present, speak to, or write articles for associations or organizations with relevant interests. Please contact her at jhollinger [at] advocacynet [dot] org throughout the summer if your organization is interested in a presentation or networking.

If your organization is interested in supporting the terrific work of CHASTE-UK or the Advocacy Project, please contact her at the above email address.
