Help Devin abolish caste discrimination in Nepal!

Hello and thank you for stopping by Change.org! As you may know, I’ve recently been given a wonderful opportunity to work on an important human rights issue this summer. As a newly appointed Peace Fellow with Washington DC’s Advocacy Project, I’ll be working with the Jagaran Media Center to advocate on behalf of Nepal’s Dalit people.
Dalits, or "untouchables" as they are known within Nepal’s caste system, are an exploited social group who face discrimination daily. The Jagaran Media Center (JMC) is an alliance against this caste-based discrimination. Established by journalists from within the Dalit community, JMC’s mission is to create awarenes in an effort to eliminate all forms of racial and caste based discrimination in Nepal.
Your support of this project will allow me to increase JMC’s effectiveness by:
- Organizing appeals for providing social justice and peace for Nepal’s exploited.
- Communicating Dalit abuses through various media formats.
- Creating global awareness of racial and caste-based discrimination.
My work with JMC will help an exploited population during a historic time in Nepal’s social and political history. It will also serve to unite my own professional, and academic goals in one of the most breathtakingly beautiful, yet heartbreakingly poor countries on the planet. Because of my personal investment in the use of artistic media for human rights, my experience as a peace fellow in Nepal will be an incredible opportunity to put my ambition into action.
I am asking for your support of this worthy project, but I sincerely hope you’ll to stay involved by reading e-bulletins about my work and weekly blogs about my experiences.
Thank you for your consideration,
Devin Greenleaf
