Day of action against monkey experiments

Support of the public strenghtens our campaigns

The Anti Vivisection Coalition held a full day of protests against the use of monkeys in the Netherlands on Thursday 16th of April.
We started off at Hartelust, it's a small family-based company in Tilburg, where animals are held in small metal cages before they are moved to animal testing laboratories. The monkeys are mainly imported from China.

Some of the customers he has delivered to:
-university of Navarra, Pamplona, Spain(2008)
-Antisense Pharma GmbH, Regensburg, Germany(2005)
-Gemacbio S.A., Cenon, France (2004/2006)
-Novartis AG, Basel, Switzerland (2005/2007)
-University of Castilla-La Mancha, Albacete, Spain (2007)
-Merck Research Laboratories Rome, Italy (2005)
Université Catholique de Louvain, Bruxelles, -Belgium (2008)

Next on the list was Schering-Plough in Oss, which was formerly known as Organon. There are more then 40.000 animals on 2 locations, including monkeys, mice, rats, dogs, and rabbits.

We finished in Tilburg, the hometown of Hartelust, and informed the public about what is going on in their town.
An activist dressed as a monkey in a cage expressed how monkeys are held in barren conditions, far away from their natural habitat.
Many people were very enthousiastic about our initiative and said they didn't want this animal exploiter in their town.

STOP THE NEPAL MONKEYTRADE

We are a global network of activists who oppose the breeding for and export of Nepalese rhesus monkeys to US primate centers. In 2003 the Nepalese government issued the Wildlife Farming, Breeding and Research Policy, opening the door for US primate centers and other commercial ventures preying Nepal 's wildlife
