Right now, the EPA has the authority to guarantee clean waters remain safe and clean. The Bush administration adopted a rule that would allow dirty water to be transferred from a polluted water body directly into a clean water body, putting healthy lakes, rivers, streams and other waters at risk. These waters provide drinking water for communities across America.
Please repeal this bad water transfer rule. The Clean Water Act, one of our country's oldest and strongest environmental laws, requires permits that help reduce pollution. The Clean Water Act has successfully helped clean up many of our rivers, lakes and streams. But if polluters are allowed to continue dumping dirty water into clean water, all our progress will be lost.
You have the authority to repeal this bad rule and guarantee protections for our waters. Please protect our waters now and for future generations.
