Help stop global warming-- Keep on Biking

Unlike many people in the world, Americans have yet to fully embrace the bicycle as an efficient and reliable green means of transportation.  However, thanks to the rising cost of petrol, and by extension the increasing cost of public transportation, many commuters, especially in urban areas, have begun to re-consider biking to and from school, work, etc.

Biking is a good thing.  It promotes good health through useful exercise--something which every single American needs to do more of; it is economically sound--consumers save money by not having to own or lease an auto, pay for parking, or spend money using public transportation; and it is very environmentally friendly--it does not pollute the environment.

Please sign this petition and urge your elected representative to encourage and promote the use of the bicycle as an alternative form of green technology.  Additionally, insist that monetary funding be made available to all urban areas of the country to create safe and efficient infrastructure to accommodate bikes on the roadways, and lastly, urge your representative to work on legislation which would provide tax credits or rebates for consumers who choose to purchase bikes and use them as their primary means of transportation.
