Fight against the human consumption of cats and dogs in South Korea
In spite of a 1991 law that prohibits the human consumption of dogs and cats, a flourishing industry exists within the markets of South Korea.
Where do these dogs and cats come from?
Illegal and unsanitary dog farms are hidden away in the countryside where breeders raise their stock for butchers. 30% are stolen from families who love them. The rest are homeless dogs, captured by butchers and then sold in open markets. Dogs are electrocuted, strangled, or bludgeoned to death. The dirty industry is proliferated by the myth that dog meat is healthy.
Cats are also consumed in Korea. While many Koreans regard dogs as companions, cats are often looked upon as pests and thus suffer worse cruelty. Companions and strays alike may be killed by being placed in sacks and pounded against the ground. Sometimes, while still alive, cats are thrown into large pots of boiling water and cooked until liquefied into “cat juice”-- which dealers claim will cure rheumatism.
“Before dogs and cats are killed for meat, they are often times strung up by their legs and beaten. Dog butchers extol the virtues of their product, linking the adrenaline rush dogs experience as they are bludgeoned to death to enhance male virility. Cats, viewed as pest animals, are boiled alive so their “juice” can be extracted for supposed health tonics which butchers claim can be used to treat rheumatism.”

Dear Mr. Lee:
I am outraged to hear that millions of cats and dogs are electrocuted, strangled, or bludgeoned to death each year in South Korea for food. As you know, the Korea Livestock and Sanitation Act forbids the cooking, sale and consumption of dog meat, and your Animal Protection Law considers dogs to be “domestic pets.”
I urge you to make every effort to support enforcing existing laws that protect cats and dogs and to support even more harsher measures on their behalf. Please use your authority and voice to put an end to the torture and massacre of South Korean companion animals. Until then, I shall continue to boycott Korean-made products and services.
Yours sincerely,
Tom Smith

I am absolutely furious at all the sick people who do this. It needs to be stopped! Please start handing out maximus punishment to people caught doing this. Take a stand against this cruel and barbaric act, please make an effort to stop this.
Would you like your dog or cat to be skinned/boiled alive? Because that's what they do. If you wouldnt want it done to your beloved pets - then dont be a hypocrit and ignore what is happening. Please stop this...

Because, besides the fact that these animals deserve the right to life, these people are brutal about slaughtering these poor cats and dogs.
