Philip Workman faces a May 9 execution date. The Tennessee Lethal Injection Moratorium Ends on May 2. The Governor has thus far rejected pleas to extend the moratorium in order to thoughtfully consider the numerous deficiencies with the execution protocol as well as the myriad of problems with the Tennessee Death Penalty as noted by the recent report from the ABA Assessment Team.
In 2003 a couple of Nashville filmmakers put together a 10 minute video asking the Governor to commute Philip's sentence. The video contains footage of the victim's daughter stating that she does not want to see Philip executed and believes that he is innocent, the testimony of a
juror who stated that he now believes that Workman is innocent, as well as the recantation of the only alleged eyewitness who now says that the police coerced his testimony.
Many have called upon the Governor to extend the current moratorium. All those who are concerned about this case, lethal injection, or the administration of the death penalty in general are encouraged to contact Governor Phil Bredesen.

This is absolutely preposterous and incredibly unpresidented! An outrage is heavily consiquented as well as fully expiated by me, THE VOICE FOR THE CONDEMNED, LAMA MILKWEED L. AUGUSTINE, who has 21 years experience in dealing with cases as this, as well as befriending many people on Death Row who are gone as well as those who are still living out more than half of their lives in this inexcusable condition. It makes me literaly want to throw up and cry with every inch of my spirit. THIS CANNOT HAPPEN! The truth of the mater is, the Governor can act independently of the court's decision, but this in itself says a lot about leadership and it's more than incredulous and highly vulger displays of power, as this is just it; an issue of POWER!
It is pretty good when man plays the role of God every day of his life, and partakes in delight in the castigating decisions he consciously chooses and without dear of consiquence. Man's beyond incredulous sense of vendetta and his wayward or gut impulse has more than to even do with the condemned person, as these political leaders are really condoning torture and mutilation of the body while in the process of dying by means of these HATE MACHINES. He would rather committ heinous cruelty and extole his progressions of this false power that they believe is more justifiable than actual justice. man cannot take presidence upon himself! Execution is more of a question of not only vendetta as just said, but on a more detestable scopr of the subject, execution stands more on the lines of Satanic ritual and taking sheer orgasmic delight in seeing those dying so tortuously that those who love these individuals like the author, human rights activist and pacifist leader, and author who just may win the Pulitzer Prize for 2008, literal quiver in a form of angst that cannot be understood nor explained away so easily.
But when someone os actually proclaimed innocent and he or she is still turned away, well this torture survivor who was inprisoned for seven years, says one thing as soberly as I possibly can in relation to this appolling topic and article, "GOD WILL STRIKE YE DOWN!"
