Testimonials

  1. Patrick B Proud, active member.

The ACLU's venerable work is to promote and defend our civil liberties. The Constitution guarantees these liberties and the ACLU consistently defends them on the federal and state level. My state affiliate is quite active, especially when the legislature is session, and they do great work. I've been a proud member for about a decade now.

"Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty."

  2. Alex H ACLU is right in principle--but refuses to apply common sense

I agree (in principle) with the ACLU. I feel that Americans need to stand up for their civil liberties. As we become more technologically advanced it becomes increasingly tempting, and increasing easy for the government to take advantage of citizens, and take their civil liberties. However, I have a problem with the ACLU, or any other organization blindly fighting, thinking that they are helping to achieve some goal.

For example, the ACLU supports the legalization of child pornography, the legalization of drugs, the legalization of prostitution and the list goes on. They have defended the Ku Klux Klan and the Westboro Baptist Church (the ones infamous for their “Thank God for 9/11” and “God hates Fags” signs). The concept of the ACLU is right, but the ACLU themselves is dead wrong.
